What's the best bang for my 20k?

I am overwhelmed and need some expert advice on the best RV I can get for 20K cash or less. There are too many options in the used market to wrap my little brain around. We (us two) are hitting the road full-time at the end of summer, and are super excited to start working on a rig, so I am trying to buy an one now. So many models and configurations. I am looking for a diesel pusher class A in the 30 to 35 foot range that is self-contained. I simply want to know what is the best built makes and models that could provide near trouble-free operation. I know it is a tall order for the money, but any support is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Hi,

I would not buy a 20 year old rv. Maintenance may eat you alive. By that I mean about 41 cents per MILE that is driven.
  • Hi Glenn, I have definitely seen class A pushers in my price range. I simply do not know which are solidly built and which are not. This is why I have been sticking to Monaco. It is the only one a diesel mechanic told me about. This is why I am here asking which makes and models are best - in the 20k price range. Now if you have personal knowledge of any of the brands I should look into then let me know for sure. Thanks again!
  • Hi Glenn, thanks for that, and it is the direction I was heading. I was looking at an older Monaco', Beaver, etc, but with being new to RV's I don't know what were the best made coaches from the early 90's. I am really looking to find out if there are other brands I should be checking out. Thanks again.
  • A DP that is trouble free with that budget? Better lower your expectations and look at travel trailers. I'm trying to be positive IMHO
  • I think your best value for the dollar will be a 10 to 15 year old low mileage top of the line (back then) RV. I paid 40 for 97 RV that original sold for 200,000. The new RV will have lots of slides and geagets, but the older (top of the line) have a better quality (feel and real) build. Stretch the budget a little and you should be able to fine a diesel pusher for that.

    Just my opinion.
