What's the hardest ticket to get on the Oregon Coast?

I'm planning a trip to Oregon and the PNW this summer and was wondering how far in advance do I need to plan.

I know my Florida parks very well and could tell you that the hardest reservation to get would be Bahia Honda in the Keys or Red Coconuts on row A in Fort Myers, but I don't have a clue what parks get crowded in Oregon and Vancouver.

Can you tell me what campgrounds are the absolutely most popular and how far in advance I'd need to reserve them to get in this summer with a 45 foot motorhome?

  • Nail down what yo can. Seems Oregon Parks are gaining in populatiry. I went to make a reservation for Champeog State park near portland and they are all full for next weekend. Crazy.
  • We have already reserved sites at a number of Oregon State Parks on the Coast....5 weeks total so far.

But, we have our favorite sites and those are the ones we reserve 9 months in advance.
  • It seems, anything on the coast is difficult to get a reservation in. We travel as much as possible without reservations or specific stop spots. We use AllStays.com and start looking seriously around 2 PM. Like to stop, be set up and cocktail by 4:30 or 5 when we can.

All the coastal places I would suggest booking a couple months out if you can.
  • Holstein13, there are lots of covered bridges to tour around Coburg, OR. Not sure if the kids would be all that interested. They have the dates that they were built and some are now only used for walking bridges. I'm glad that Oregon kept them, nice history.

    MM.
  • Oregon state parks start taking reservations 9 months out. So now is the time to make them. On 101 besides any of the state parks, Netarts Bay RV, Salmon Harbor at Winchester bay, Sea N Sand and Brookings Harbor are all great for views.
