Wheel "Simulators" (covers) on Duallies

My wheel simulators are held on with two nuts that thread onto the ends of the studs above the real lug nuts. I believe they're made by Dicor, though I'd have to check to be positive.
If I had infinite time, I'd probably get rid of the simulators and paint the wheels themselves nicely. It's hard enough to get to the valve stems with the twelve "hand" hole Ford wheels, and having simulators with slightly smaller holes doesn't make it one bit easier!
