From what I've read, a DOT tank has to be re-certified after 12 then ever 5 yrs and ASME tanks do not need re-certification. Some indicated the relief valve on ASME tank should be replaced every 10 yrs. You need to check tank to see if it is ASME or DOT. I think majority (maybe all) of permanent mounted MH tanks will be ASME. As mentioned, the DOT tanks are also referred to as cylinders.
