First refill since purchase. Now I know why seller was kind enough to fill propane tank . . . .
With all the rust (and it's a LOT) 2 retailers wouldn't refill the tank. 1st one might have, but the young lady (a baby, really) was doing her job and reading the date code. 2001. What are they teaching these young kids? She actually did her job to a 'T'! Second one just saw the rust, called the manager who called the general manager. They couldn't figure out why it didn't explode on the way in. J/K, but no propane for me.
So that's a good thing. I didn't know about the 12 yr re-certification (slap some paint on it and get tested? not likely) or that much rust was actually bad, really bad.
But it's gonna hurt - $500 + 2 hrs labor, which is in line with earlier comment. I contacted Manchester Tank but the RV place had already gotten a quote. Oh yeah, Manchester Tank said my tank was not affected by their paint problems.
Thanks for this post. Just adding my most recent dilema.
