Where do Luxury Coach's stay...??

Wow.. My question got completely off the rail. First, thank you Mr Moderator for stopping the craziness. Second, let me apologize to all the high end luxury coach owners. It was not my intention to question why you purchased what you did, nor to think you need to defend youself. And let me appologize to those normal people who answered without being rude. You also do not need to defend your self. But both of you, be respectful of each. Look at the news. We have enough crazy people, serious issues and I want us to look at those and lets take care of this county that provides us with such bounty.

I only meant to ask, if it is a 1000 miles between somewhere and Motor Coach Country Club in Indio, where do you stay? We have enjoyed MCC several times, always found the people very friendly, been invited to several parties, and WoW, do the Resort throw a wild New Years Eve Party... Worth going just for that. We have been to several other Luxury Resorts (Tiger Run in Breckenridge Co, LV Motorcoach Resort) We on occasion will pay the $100 a night and not fret about it. Just wanted to know how you get from point A to B and on. Example, we went from Park City UT a couple months ago to Steamboat Springs CO. We stopped at a park in Dinosaur, CO. a town of 150 and RV park with 50 AMP for 100 spaces etc. It is remote and very out there in the wilderness. Question for example is Mr Luxury Coach, would you stop there? Or some other place where most of the spaces are full time, older places with the usual junk sitting in the yard?

My question is not that you are different than I, or snooty, no more than some people we meet with a TT or pop up, 5th wheel or ?? who are snooty, rude and obnoxious. Its not that your bottle of wine cost $200 or whatever and mine cost $25 at all.

My wife and I live in a resort town, a very expensive area where we list and sell real estate. We don't have the riches to spend as our clients do. We have met you all, the good, the bad and the ugle and that goes for the luxury and wealthy owners, the 1% + and the other 40% of people. Lets not forget that we 50% +/- can afford to RV at all. There are a hell of a lot of people who can just put food on the table, a roof overhead. So all of you who got crazy, step back and take a breath please.

  • . . .. We're just Country Bumpkins & have never stayed in a high end resort; hopefully never will. . .Why???. . .We prefer to camp where the people are not. .OR. . .In dispersed camping. . .Actually last weekend ( on way back from VA ) we were gonna stay close to Tahoe ( dispersed camping ) but did not feel like camping in the brisk winds that were happening. . . Lotsa different people with lotsa different needs I figure. . . We are also not social butterflies. . .FYI
  • To the OP....My advice: step slowly away from the keyboard. Back away from the computer and let it go.
Put down the shovel and stop digging an even deeper hole.

Anyway, good luck with your thread.

And even now that you have had time to think about it, you still don't see that this kind of question doesn't HAVE a single good answer. It might stimulate a bit of (hopefully good natured) discussion but it can't really be answered.

BECAUSE....the only answer that is important is YOURS.

Stay wherever you please. Pick a campground or resort or Cracker Barrel parking lot that suits YOUR needs and wants. What others do is really meaningless in the end.

KOA supposedly has a minimum set of standards but it's not a resort. I find them to be a good compromise. YOU might find them junky or overpriced however.

Possibly there are secret, high-end RV locations about every 500 miles between luxury resorts that are never listed in any guide, but are disclosed on special GPS enabled equipment installed in only the most expensive coaches.:B
  • not sure if what we drive could be termed luxurious or not...2016 Itasca Suncruiser 38Q...but we tend to avoid the higher end resorts primarily due to cost. we have stayed at some of the Outdoor Resorts parks and find them quite nice but unless they're the only option we'll look elsewhere.

we used to boondock overnight between here and there in parking lots (Wally, Flying J) but those were the days when I was driving 10-12 hrs. now that we're retired it's more like 4-hrs/250 miles actual driving per day. we start out around 10am and are usually hooked up and relaxing between 3 and 4pm. it takes us longer to get there from here but we're in no hurry.
