Where does the little red wire go

I have a Banks OttoMind engine calibration Module. There is a 4 wire cable that runs from the module to the instrument panel. the 4 wires are Black, (common ground) Green (gauge) and White (gauge) and then there is a red wire, that has a small blade connector. The red wire is disconnected and there is no obvious place for it.

This system worked until about 4 months ago.

Yes I know it is an old system, but it worked?

We installed a new back up camera, and this wire must have been disconnected behind the instrument panel some how.

I checked for + power, not powered
  • Red is normally power. I would suspect it goes to a keyed hot in your fuse panel.

I could be wrong, but I'd also guess a call to Banks would also answer your question.
  • As mentioned red is usually for power. Perhaps it is used to power the back lighting at night.

Not sure if this is your exact product. Page 16 says power.

    Manual

This is not a "Stinger pack' and this system is on a cummins 8.3 ISC

    Thanks for helping.
  • Go to Banks website with your exact product part number for the instructions if you don't have them.
What is your Banks part number?

  • I went through Banks site and didn't find your model number. You could try calling Eric Davis over at Eric's RV in Sequim. He did a lot of work with Gale Banks.

that engine calibration module , is way of date.
banks is sending a owners manual for it.
But looks like I'm in for a updated module but not for banks.
  • I am surprised that Banks doesn't have obsolete manuals on website.
    Good luck!
  • It's over, we must upgrade.
    Any opinions ?
    on boost gauges? EGT gauges?
