I also questioned the statement that the converter should be near where the power enters. It is much more efficient to transmit 110V than 12V. From what I was taught, the converter should be close to the batteries and the inverter, if there is one, should also be close to the batteries.
As noted above, that is not always the case. In my coach the 110V comes in the left rear to the transfer switch then up to the center rear to the circuit breaker/fuse box. From there the 110V goes along the right side of the coach almost to the front and then to the converter which is under a seat. The converter is about 3' from the batteries which are under the drivers feet. I do not have an inverter, but if I install one, it will be very close to the batteries as well.
