I wouldn't go without. Even though we have Good Sam and AAA Premier with RV coverage, I have no intention of sitting around while road service looks for a suitable tire replacement. Then there's the time spent dismounting and mounting.
Our RV is also used extensively in remote off road sites where most road service won't tread so I have a substantial compressor, impact wrench, sockets and breaker bar should I need to do it myself (with a little help from my friends).
After our spare was stolen from the under-frame mount a few years ago, I went with one of these and I love it. No crawling underneath to drop the spare down.

So, what was the total cost on it?
Maybe I should've had one ready for when I had my blowout and tried really hard to keep one of the 5 for a spare, but to no avail.
Decided to just change them all out, which I had planned to do the following year, anyway.
Naturally it cost me more, along with older DOT dates and getting caught like that with your pants down in NY state, isn't like being at home and dealing locally.
