WHERE TO ATTACH

Looking at conversion vans to convert to camper van. I will need to attach cabinets and such. Not a whole lot of stuff. What is behind the plastic shells inside and the van wall? Furring strips? Metal support ribs? Are they easy to find? Can anything be attached to the floor? I do plan to remove the seats, so, I'm presuming there will be some places to bolt things down. Anywhere else on the floor to attach to?
I'm pretty handy but don't have experience with a van interior.

I converted a conversion van to a RVan. I took out the fold down seat/bed and just put down plywood with wood looking sheet vinyl over that. I built a shelf for storage underneath. I did not put up any permanent cabinets, especially not overhead which I feel closes the whole area in and makes it claustrophobic. Instead I used aluminum foil backed insulation over the windows and put cargo nets to hold all kinds of stuff (the light stuff). I have a lot of room in my RVan and live comfortably out of it for 2 months in Florida, including my 3 little dogs. See my website for how my RVan evolved.
  • Each van is different, as is each interior fitter. Some may have added furring strips, some not.

    Generally, they are like this:

Big items should be screwed into these ribs - probably with self tapping screws and some adhesive.
