I'll add a new twist. What brought me to this thread? Looking for information on replacing our spare that was stolen while at an upscale RV park near Portland this past weekend.
We were only away from the rig for few hours on Friday, most of the day and into the evening on Saturday, and for a few hours on Sunday. When I went to preflight the RV for the drive home early on Monday morning, I see the rack hanging down with no spare attached.
Though I too don't want to change a tire on the road, I at least want to have a mounted spare to speed up the process should I need to call road service. Also, we frequently travel to remote "dark sky sites" with our astronomy club in locales where a road service might be reluctant to go. If I have a problem there, I might HAVE to change it on my own (with help from always present friends).
I wasn't too upset about this till I started looking into the cost of a tire and rim and now I'm just plain pi**ed off. Now...the debate is whether or not to call the insurance company.
