- moishehExplorerThere are lots of bargain priced DP's with older engine technology. Have you considered a Bluebird. Lots of nice units under $20,000. But I really don't think you will find a DP with that IH engine. Besides there are other considerations like build quality and layout. Finding one with your desired engine but nothing else is not the answer.
Moisheh - themoreweexplorExplorerI'm not looking for a new RV with that motor, I'm hoping to find an older RV with that motor. Ancient tech? Probably, but reliable. My budget only allows ancient RVs, so no matter what I get, I won't find anything up to par with the new motors being used in more recent models.
That engine is a workhorse in school busses and MDT trucks. I'm not asking you to make it your favorite motor of all time, I'm just hoping to create a list of rigs that had that motor. - moishehExplorerThere is a reason why the OP cannot find that engine a Class A. It is underpowered and ancient technology. At first I could not understand why he would want that IHC. But then I realized that with the high price of fuel he could attach a swather to the front of his MH and bring in a few bucks to pay for fuel. The 466 is the predecessor to the infamous MF series. Not exactly a desired powerplant.

DT 466, is that a inline 6 or the Ford V8 built by International?
It's the International inline 6 (Navistar MaxxForce DT: 7.6 L wet-sleeve diesel.)
A Detroit Deisel 40 series was built by International, and is essentially the same motor, so I'd be ok with one of those too.
I want one for their reliability more than their power. It's an older model, yes, but my budget won't allow for newer high hp models. It should be plenty powerful for my needs. I value long-term reliability over hp specs.
When I get parts for mine I tell them it's a DT 530 - themoreweexplorExplorer

I have a series 40 in mine. It's basically the same as the 466.
Since you said "basically", not identically the same you are correct as many parts can be exchanged, but not the crank or bearings. DD got more HP out of their version
When I needed a fuel check valve from what the parts guy at international told me is that the series 40 is a international 530 that detroit put their electronics on it and call it a series 40. I really don't know anything about them. Looks like a bunch of parts are the same for the 466 and 530. But as you point out not all. Hope I never need to find out lol. - mike_brezExplorer

Mike, how many miles on your 7.3? I have 70K on my 02 and 130K on a 99.
I have 90k on it. It has been a great truck/ engine. Never been in the shop. Replaced a couple glow plug relays and a gem module that I did have to have the dealer program. I have been running a TS chip for over 70k miles with a bunch of other goodies. I think it like to get beat on. We pulled a 5er for a few years also. - IvylogExplorer III
