Which vacuum cleaner??

Looks like I need a new vacuum cleaner for the motorhome.
Was wondering what you have that you like and/or what you've had that you wouldn't recommend.

Not full-timers but do get out quite often for 5 days to a couple of weeks at a time. Spend 2/3 of time at the coast (sand) and 1/3 in the mountains (pine needles).
Have two dogs, a boxer (short hair) and a golden retriever (long hair).
Floors are carpet in the living and bed areas, with linoleum in the kitchen and bath areas.

Sooo, what have you got that will handle this? Also, she's not a big fan of the cordless (battery) type. Does prefer the bagless.

BTW, budget would be a max of $150 but preferably closer to the $100 mark.
  • I bought a 20 year old Kirby 3G for $30 on Craigslist.

The 3G model is very similar to the ones that you can buy brand new. They've change the colors and very little else over the years.

They usually go for between $100-$200 used (and $1800 new), but there are a few sellers who will sell it for almost nothing simply because the belt is broken. Replacing the belt is as easy as replacing a light bulb, but some people are mechanically challenged.

Admittedly, the Kirby is overkill for the motorhome, but it does do an outstanding job.

I've had too many cheap vaccuums break on me, so I'd rather buy a quality used one.
  • DW has a Hoover LiNX and a Black and Decker DustBuster. Both are bag less, and light weight, battery powered, and easy to maneuver in the RV. I think she paid about $150 for the two of them (good sale prices).

We also have a mini-shopvac as part of my tool kit.

We are very satisfied with our vacuuming tools.
