Both good sam and coachnet have good results over the yrs. We have had good sam for 14 yrs and have been towed twice. They covered a second towing on the same problem when a lousy co tried to fix my MH in Gallup NM and after 5 days I gave up and had it towed again to Albuquerque. They covered a $2000 second towing charge. Pretty good I would say!!
This is normally because they are supposed to get verification from the service provider that they are equipped to fix it, no matter what the problem.
When this fails, it's now their responsibility for towing you to another location. This will most likely result in that service provider falling out of favor with your insurance company and just like a towing service would, that wasn't able to handle the job.
Speaking of this and with a time when we broke down. I called for a towing company nearby before calling coachnet and the people said their big truck was broke down and to call this other. Meanwhile, I did call CN and now more than got off the phone with this other company on their way.
Now, this guy tells me that the other, doesn't even have the equipment at all, but do have a relationship with CN and then give them all the heavy duty business, as in sub-contracting to them.
Only thing was with the weekend, we were towed to a CG, with the plan for being towed again on Monday. Meanwhile, this company sent a mech on sat. who couldn't find the problem. Come Sunday, I settled down and got out my manuals and it wasn't long before I figured it out. Did a temporary fix on it and had the towing company out there early Monday to re-hook the drive shaft, thereby allowing us to get underway. Once at our destination, I ordered the proper parts and fixed it right.
Too bad, I didn't have the time to fix it myself in the first place, but was in a gas station in front of the pumps and the owner wanted me out of there, pronto.
