Was just wondering before we take some 3k mile road trips this year who has the best Roadside Assistance programs? Just figured in case of a Mechanical Breakdown or field repair needed or tire blowout or even the need to have to be towed if there is a service that covers this type of thing? If so what's the best one and what's the going rate? Or am I better off just crossing my fingers and hoping all goes well?I know there are a few options. Good Sam has served me well so far. I have 4 service calls in the past 24 month all without a hitch.AAA service is great in some ares and bad in others. It is an association made up of various clubs.FMCA also seems to have a quality product.You have another choice and that is your RV insurance policy might cover towing and breakdown.Whichever way you go MAKE SURE TO READ THE COVERAGE terms and conditions.That seems to be the biggest problem with the policies no one reads and assumes they are covered.For example FMCA coverage states; Winch-out ServiceBenefits apply as long as the RV can be safely reached from an established, maintained road, thoroughfare, paved street, highway, public or private parking lot. Winch-out coverage applies when member is attending FMCA events and rallies.Winch-out services do NOT apply if the RV is more than 50 feet from an established, maintained road or thoroughfare, or was intentionally driven off the road, or when your RV cannot be reached safely. Benefit does not apply to recovery work (e.g., RV is down a hillside or embankment) or if the RV has been in an accident.Good sam states;Vehicles in a repair facility, off-road area*,sand beach area, or any unattended, unlicensed, or abandoned vehicles.An off-road area is defined as an area OFF of any of the following: hard-packed or graded dirt public road, paved street, driveway, parking lot, highway, freeway, expressway or adjacent shoulder.There are differences in these 2 statementsAAA NO INFO until after you purchase then you get to see contract.

Good Sam has been good for me so far.

Good Sam and Coach-Net seem to be the most popular.Some use AAA and, some will tell you to check with your insurance company, they may have the service available.You will find pros and cons to each service. I don't think you will find a 'best' Program.

Coach-Net does it for me. 1 water leak (set me up with a nearby dealer) and 2 flat tires. One at home...the other in El Paso Texas. Fast,professional, and...follow-up phone calls asking how things went.They have, I think, 3 levels of policies. I have the $100/year one.

As far as I know, CoachNet is the only one that can put a mechanic/technician on the phone with you that may be able to talk you through your problem so you can fix it yourself.

Do not use AAA. I sat in a parking lot for 6 hours because of AAA. I have a 41 Pusher.

They sent 4 tow trucks that had NO idea how to tow a pusher. One even hooked up and did not know you have to remove axel to disengage transmission. I had to call a company I knew
towed a big rig.

AAA did reimburse me.

I have Good Sam now. Never used it and hope I don't need it

Best roadside assistants without a doubt is CoachNet.

I would pack a big lunch and a good book to read while you wait and try to find road side services. Be sure and bring your iPhone! Especially at 8:00 pm or later.
For approx. $100 it sure seems worth it not to be RVing on a prayer and a hope:) But it's America and everyone gets to make their own choice.

Call Good Sam Road Side Assistance and ask them directly. I would not make my finally decision based on info from RV.net. Just guessing but Its my understanding that your RV would not be eligible for ERS services if some one other than you were driving. your RV. On the other side, If I have GS ERS and I am in someone else's RV rig then that RV would be eligible for services.

Allstate Motor Club may be worth a look as well. It's their call center you'll be talking to if you call Good Sam for ERS help.

Looks like Coach-Net and Good Sam are the good ones. Ill have to look into both. I want something that will cover the RV of my Brother in Law or Parents take it out so I need to look in to that. Also I may be leaning towards Good Sam as it seems most campgrounds I go to offer a Good Sam discount.

CoachNet is by far the best...in my humble opinion. I've had it for 11 years fulltimeing and used them twice. One was a 90 tow for the wrecker. The other was a 7 mile tow, both done by a real professional towing service and an appointment made for me on my arrival at the repair facility.
