- Ed_GeeExplorer III must say there have been many time I wish I had a rear view mirror to see what was going on behind me in the coach while driving......
- toedtoesExplorer IIII can see out my rear window with the mirror.
- rockhillmanorExplorerI have a rear window on my coach. Therefore needs a rear view mirror!
Those van chassis' come off an assembly line. 'Then' the coach builders get them. Some RV models have back windows some do not.
I know I would have been bummed out if my RV had no rear view mirror!
Since I usually have the shades down in the back I don't use it BUT I do turn it to the side and it gives me an additional view of the road on that side. I know not the cars because so high but it does show the trucks. - WILDEBILL308Explorer II

I've tried searching for this but can't seem to find an answer. I suppose they allow you to see whats going on inside the coach. I wonder if Ford gets the glass with the mount already attached so they just go ahead and install one.
Good question. They come that way from the factory. Ford sells a complete platform to the coach builder. Yes they are handey to see what is going on behind you and as someone said in some coaches you can see out the rear window. I had one that had a magnifying lens on the back window so you could see behind you. I don't have one now and miss it.
Bill - ScottGNomadI think it's there for before the coach is added. Maybe.
- Desert_CaptainExplorer IIIA rear view mirror was an option on our Class C {though we bought ours used} but the rear view camera display {which is located right where a rear view mirror would normally be} provides a nice rear view effect in most light conditions.
Nexus offers a rear view mirror, specifically to provide the driver with a clear view to the rear of the interior of the coach but I elected not to order it {before we found our coach on the used market}.
An inexpensive clip on mirror attached to the drivers visor will work well whenever needed.
:C - sch911ExplorerThey are required to be there when the chassis manufacturer ships the bare chassis. The upfitters just leave them there. It really is that simple.
- CloudDriverExplorerOur Class C came with a rear window and I use the cab rear view mirror and this wide angle lens to see vehicles behind me that would not be visible in the side mirrors.

I have the same sort of situation, and the same sort of lens. It's quite useful during the day, and gives a surprisingly good view of what's immediately in back of the motorhome. During night it's a little less helpful as there's nothing visible to gauge where headlights are in relation to your (i.e. what lane the vehicle is in). I'm quite glad for the inside rear view mirror--and the outside ones also, of course. - valhalla360NavigatorMy bet is the chassis comes with a mirror, so they don't spend the time and effort removing it and then trying to hide the glue mark.
