Been camping and RVing for over 40 years, not counting my "camping" done courtesy of Uncle Sam.
We have had tents, airplanes, Class B, C, trailer, DP, and Gasser Class A RV's. Each type suited our needs for the type of travel that we were doing at the time. The time spent with our Son are cherished memories that never would have happened without our RV's. We still travel about 15,000 miles a year staying in one location usually no more than a few days, UNLESS it is something special. Our dogs have always been with us as we travel and we prefer Winter time travel because the snow doesn't bother us, and we prefer fewer people in the National Parks, and other destination. We have no desire to attend any RV rallies and prefer doing things at our own pace rather than any type of a scheduled event.
The DW and I recently took an airplane trip to Peru/Machu Picchu and even during that trip, we opted for our own schedule of seeing the sights rather than joining some scheduled tour.
As long as we are both physically able, we continue to go our own way and will always retain our stick house for the times when we just need to get home, do some maintenance on the RV, and get away from each other for awhile. :B
