Hi folks If when using a campgrounds pass protected Wi Fi and doing something like bill paying, how secure is my information?

I don't trust public Wi/Fi! We bought a Verizon MiFi jetpack in 2010, when I retired we spend 6 months on the road and haven't been hacked yet? My wife is constantly checking our banking info just in case!
