Will 2015 Thor Vegas pull a Jeep TOAD?

Hi all. Almost ready to pull the trigger on a 2015 Thor Vegas. Its on the Ford Van chassis E-350, 305 HP V10 with 5 speed tranny. Will this pull a 3500 lbs Jeep as a TOAD ok?

  • We DID IT!!! Got the 2015 Vegas 24.1 at Paul Sherry RV in Piqua, Ohio. Sale price $68972. Drove all the way up from Miami, Fl. to get it. Saved about $15000 over Florida prices. It has all the options. 15000 roof air. Two multi function Max Air fans. 3 TVs. Heated tanks. LED strip lights in awning. Ford V10 engine with 5 speed Tranny. Talked to the guy who was delivering new ones from Indiana. He swears hes getting 11 mpg pulling his car. Drives like a dream!
  • We have a Thor Axis, which is identical to a Vegas except for color scheme. I know for sure that Thor puts a hitch rated for 5000 lb on both the Vegas and Axis.
  • E-350 V-10 GCWR is 18,500 pounds which is at least 6000 pounds over the maximum loaded weight of the motorhome. You just need to make sure Thor put on a hitch rated for what you want to tow, and that rating should be in the owner's manual, a supplement to the owner's manual, and also on a sticker on the bumper over the hitch.

Yes it will pull it fine but what kind of Jeep is it. I doubt it weighs 3500lbs. If that is the specs that would be dry weight. Factor in fuel and anything you add such as brake controller, tow bar, and most of us will keep some additional item in it when we tow (my wife likes to shop). :) You really want to make sure the RV is rated to pull 5,000lbs.
  • As far as the engine and transmission...I doubt there'd be a problem. That V10 is a great engine. Make sure your hitch is rated for a higher weight than what you plan to tow. You don't really want to get too close to its maximum rated capacity.
  • I'd say sure also, but you might want to doublecheck the tow rating of the rig. It's probably 3500 so you'll be right on the edge.

    We pulled a jeep tj with a '99 36footer, 275hp v10, it did fine.
  • We pulled our 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee LTD to Colorado and back this summer with our 2001 Brave with 7.4 Chevy engine and a 4 speed tranny. It did fine on normal interstate driving at about 65 mph, not sure how it would do in the mountains. The Jeep weighs about 4k lbs.
