For your information on this post: The engine is a cat C7 Accert engine. It was not a water pump problem but the main fan hub bearing.
When the hub went out it tore up the serpentine belt that ran the waterpump and alternator. I was lucky the fan blade did not go forward into the radiator. This bearing did not have a zirt fitting but one of those pre lubed bearings. If the bearing was going out and making a noise, you can not hear it because of exhaust noise. Due to the design of the frame and box, this radiator had taken over 8 hours to remove it, even by good mechanics. Parts were very expensive by caterpillar. One tension pulley was $229.00. Labor was $100.00 per hour and they only charge me the going shop time of 15 hours Even though they went way over that. Google problems with this bearing and engine and you will get an idea of the problem. Good luck to anyone who has this engine and bearing.
