wind sensor

My awning says it has a communication problem with the wind sensor and therefore will not operate. Where is the wind sensor on a 2008 Fleetwood Discovery 40X?
  • Need to know brand and model of awning. Those parts are part of the awning, not a Fleetwood product.
  • the ones I have seen are vane arrangements on the roof. IIRC they looked like half a pingpong ball on a stick. :)
    bumpy
  • Hi Todd
Mine is located on the front of the roller at the end of the arm.
Check for dirt or spider webs. Make sure it is not bent closed.
In the arm you will find the wiring to it and check that is did not become disconnected.
Let us know the outcome please.

    That's where mine is also.
  • You may need to reboot the control center. Disconnect the power supply, wait a few minutes and connect.
  • 2008 Weatherpro will have the sensor in the top of the front arm. It will be that CHROME looking part on the inside top of the arm. You will see the wire connection at that point. The wire goes from the sensor to the back of the wall panel control. Doug
  • Mine is in the same location as others have stated. I was adding LED's and accidentally unplugged the sensor, and before I could react, it closed the awning. With it disconnected there was no easy way to override it except by using a jumper wire across the input terminals on the controller. Verify the supply wires as you don't want to short the power supply. I did on mine, however traced to a blown diode, so it cost me $1.69 at radio shack vs. $279 to replace the whole unit.
If you need I can check the terminals on mine tomorrow, shoot a PM my way.
  • Thanks everyone. I found the sensor, cleaned it a bit and it works just fine. I love this forum.
