Window awning tension

Question

One of my window awnings has lost its tension . It worked this summer but this the first time I have tried it since then. It has been through some winter snow and cold but was retracted. I am sure ther is a way to restore the tension but it is not in my knowledge base. Can anyone help before I spend the money to have it fixed. It is only one year old.Thanks.

Don't know which brand you have but most have a good website full of good info on this subject.

I'm thinking it may be the spring is stuck so will lubricate and see what happens. Any experience would help.

You may need a new spring -- our main awning did this and when disassembled the spring was actually broke on 1 end.  Awning would not roll up tight like it should no matter how many times we tried.

I have been messing with it. First I tried to lubricate everything that moved and did get it to close and open but not smoothly. Finally it refused to close but I was able to hand roll itin ut it was very tight.  It is a dometic but I don't know how it works inside the roller.
