Windshield replacement

We just had a stone crack our windshield in Our 2006 Holiday Rambler Ambassador. It was done by a mower in our camp ground and they are willing to pay for a new one. Trying to get some idea how much to replace it. It is a one piece.
  • Heh in my old coach, I'd take the insurance money and just get the thing sealed/repaired. :)
  • The OP stated that the campground will replace the windshield so why should he settle for a repair?

A new one will run $800 to $1300.
  • I have had 3 stone chips repaired, in the last three years, in my two pc. windshields as opposed to replacing both windshields. If done properly they are not very noticeable and prevent a replacement from leaking, etc. My insurance Col. paid for the repair vs. a deductible if glass was replaced. If a problem develops in the future they will replace the windshields.
  • I had a one piece windshield and the insurance company paid $3000.
  • I just had 1 piece of a 2 piece windshield replaced. I think the total was about $1300 and I had to pay my $1000 deductible.

  • When we had our one piece windshield replaced in Oregon, it was around $2000 using the original seal.
  • Two things, if you have RV insurance with a Florida address, you have no deductible windshield insurance on your policy. Much easier than messing with some one else. Second, contact RV Glass Solutions, as they are the largest supplier of RV glass in America and they have a location in the Lakeland area, IIRC. They have replaced 2 windshields in our HR and have done an excellent job both times.
  • How big is it and where is it? I had a rock hit the lower corner of my windshield and I had an 8" crack. A good windshield repair guy can stop the crack from moving and it will not need replacing. Mine cost $95, regularly $135, and has worked fine so far.
  • are you expected to pay for the replacement and then get reimbursement from the CG or has the CG referred you to their insurance provider? if this were me i'd rather deal with their insurance carrier. i'd contact *my* insurance carrier and get their advice on how to proceed. they should also be able to refer you to a qualified glass company in your area. otherwise i'd start out by calling SafeLight Glass at 877-664-8931.
