At $65 bucks, OUT of pocket no questions asked. No reason to even bump up a couple of percent your next premium.
Without a doubt, the best answer here. I wouldn't even pick up the phone to the insurance company for that. Insurance is for large item repair/replacement. $65.00 is nothing. You can pay that much for dinner.
But, one thing I'd surely recommend, GET IT FIXED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!! The reason I say that is, I've had chips before and had them fixed while on the road by the local company, whoever it was at the time. The so-called "experts" say to get a chip fixed as soon as possible due to the fact that it can become contaminated and not hold a repair as easily.
Well, I screwed up. We got a chip at the lower left side of the passenger windshield, about an inch up from the lower molding. I procrastinated due to the fact that I was at home and I could attempt to fix it myself. I researched all the reviews on the various chip repair kits out there and "Permatex" received the best reviews for do-it-yourself kits.
Well, we'd been home for about a week while I was doing the research. The morning I decided to head out to the local Auto Zone to pick up the kit, I checked the windshield before I drove out and low and behold, over one night, that chip, had grown from a chip to an 11" long crack, almost straight up.
Well, talk about being P....off, because of my sluggishness in doing the repair, it was now a crack. I was facing the hard side of a $1,000.00 dollar bill. And no, all insurance companies are NOT THE SAME! In fact, they vary from county to county, much less from state to state. So, we ended up calling the "Crack Doctor" from down town San Diego. He came up to our home, about a 35 mile trip, and worked about an hour and a half on it. That crack is almost gone!! You have to look hard to see it.
And, he guaranties that it will not travel any farther. And, that was about 8 + months ago. So, the point is, GET IT FIXED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. And pay for the darn thing, don't even goof around with the insurance company.
