Winnabago Voyage trouble

Have trouble getting the motorhome started sometimes. Can't get it out of park and can't start it. Had it to the dealer two times and $800. later my husband just tried to start it and it did it again. But it was a little better with moving the shift lever. Anyone ever heard of this before. New starter and don't know what else they did.

  • Sure sounds like the famous FORD SOLENOID problem which is easily replaceable under the hood...there are picture of the ford starter solenoid all over the net..just google it.
  • In my 1990 ford a pin broke in the steering column that would not let me turn the key or take it out of park. Roadside service new exactly what it was when I talked to him on the phone and brought the replacement part.
  • No there is no clicking and sometimes have to go to the back up starter. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. The man that handles us is the owner of the company. We told him about the nuetral park switch that someone told us about and he didn't say anything and don't know if he checked it. Will have to call (again) and ask him . Thanks for all the help.

I would be back at the dealer talking to the service manager and if i got no satisfaction, I would go the general manager and raise cain. There is no excuse for putting out those buck and not having it fixed.
  • It is clicking when you try to start it, or is it totally silent?
  • We need more information:

    Gas or diesel?

    What chassis?

    What age coach?
  • It kind of sounds like your neutral safety switch is out of adjustment a little bit. You don't give us much info on the vehicle type, but on some if you do not set the parking brake before putting it in park it will be hard to get out of park. JMO
