Ram shows a diesel available in their Promaster, with an automated manual transmission that should give great mileage. Some concerns I would have with this chassis are low CCC, poor traction on slippery surfaces due to FWD, and virtually no towing capacity. If one travels light, stays on dry ground and doesn't need to tow, these could be a very nice driving coach with good fuel mileage.
Poor traction is not a problem ,low towing capacity is, same as a Sprinter.
View/Navion towing capacity is 5000 lbs (if fully laden, it is 4000 lbs due to max combined weight rating). Trend/Viva is 2000 lbs and is not limited when the RV is loaded to max gross weight.
I pull a toad that is just under 3000 lbs with my Navion. I do just fine. I wouldn't call that "low" towing capacity.
All relative would be considered fairly low here.
