Why a smoother ride with tandem dual tires? I can imagine feeling two jolts in the rear with each road bump instead of just one jolt. I admit that there may be another very subtle thing going on with tandems feeling softer on bumps, that I won't get into here.
No they do not, much better all round as far as wear goes. Yes they are a lot smoother. I have driven an E450 whilst in the US. No comparison ride much harsher, than the Ducato inline.
