Winnebago View murphy bed mattress

Question

We have a 2023 View with the murphy bed. Want to put in a better mattress. Has any one done this? How do you get the mattress "unhooked" from the frame? I have been advised to stay away from toppers as they add too much extra weight and can cause the motor to burn out.

Sounds like "put a topper on the existing mattress and if the motor fails we will not cover a warranty claim". So any new mettress must not weigh any more than existing.
We have always had a topper and see no problem unless of course you smoke in bed!
My thoughts would be that there must be a maximum thickness of mattress or matress+ topper to fit in the folding space as well as weight.

Memory foam mattress with a 2” topper. Works great.

we put two inch memory foam on top, been there ten years works for us.myself I would not tar things up.
