Winnie Adventurer and 50amp

A friend of mine has a 2010 Winnie Adventurer with a basement air conditioner. He says that he "cannot" stay in any park site without 50 amp service and use his ac. Is this the case for those of you with these type units or should I read "will not" instead of "cannot"?

Yeah, it's either "will not" or "does not know his options". He will miss some nice parks with 30 amps

  • Our 2001 Adventurer (50 amp service)with basement air could run both compressors on 30 amps. The first compressor will start at around 14 amps. In the run mode it would draw 10 - 12 amps. After about a 1 minute delay the second compressor would start. The total load would be 24 - 26 amps. When up to speed both compressors would draw 20 - 24 amps.

If they both need to run the energy management system will shut down the water heater or other appliances. That's the object of the energy management system.

more like 'will not'. if the MH is equipped with an energy mgmt ststem then both AC compressors can be run but not much else. his 2010 Adventurer is almost certainly equipped with an EMS. it's just easier on 50-amps which we also prefer. the good news for us is that it's been ages since we've been in a park that doesn't have at leadt so e 50-amp sites.
  • Our Winnebago Adventure with basement air only has 30 amp. Both compressors work if not much else is on but if you run too much stuff it sheds one compressor.

OK how does he run the ac when on gen power only? there only 30 amp
as far as I know basement AC has two compressors so u may be limited to only running one compressor if your trying to run say a hair dryer or a Microwave etc at the same time while on 30 amp
