Winterizing a 2000 Pace Arrow 35n

Has anyone done his.?
The book says to put about 5 gal. antifreeze in fresh water tank and run it thru the water lines.
I have always had tts and fivers and never had to do that. There has always been a suction hose to draw the anti freeze in, but this motor home does'nt have one.
Am I missing something?
  • Great, that makes it easier. There will always be some things to be repaired or replaced. Have fun with your new to you rig!
  • Today my son came over and showed me that the original owner had put a winterizing kit on the mh and all I had to do was connect a hose to the valve and close the valve to the fresh water tank and turn the punp on, open the faucets in the mh and fun til pink came out. Also, pushed the center button in the city water intake. Sometime in the past, I think that someone did not drain the shower in the water bay and it had froze and cracked the fitting. I will replace it whe I get a chance.
We have only had this mh a few weeks, its our first. There are a few things that need repar or replaced.
  • When I had a '96 Pace Arrow 35' I drained from the low point drains, drained the water heater and put anti-freeze in the drain traps. The holding tanks were also drained. Leaving the faucets open full when draining the lines helped. Fleetwood did a good job of having the water system work with the low point drains. I never used 5 gal. of pink stuff.
  • You can easily make your own antifreeze kit. Just get a length of hose and the appropriate size connector. Locate the inlet on the pump, disconnect the hose from the tank, put your new hose on and the other end in the af jug, then turn on the pump. Replace everything when done.
  • I did that in my old Pace Arrow. It was a 96. It worked well, it just takes a lot and it takes a lot of water to flush it out in the spring.

Oh.. I did from a bucket to make it easier instead from the fresh water tank. Either way , it works fine. But, you still need to put some in the fresh water tank in case there is some water still in there and it freezes the line.
