You bring up a good point on the run time. I didn't see where it's stated or reviewed that they only last 8 hours. Where does it say that? But yeah, if it's only 8 hours (and run time is certainly shortened with stop and go or running with lights on) You have a link to the one's you use?
On edit; I saw some reviews mention the 8 hours and go further to say that the batteries lose life over time and limit to 4-5 hours. I may go back to the hard wired version that mount in the existing lens. Harder to run, but once set up super clean and just plug them in when towing.
