Wiring Question on MH

This is a long shot but here goes. I replaced all four of my coach batteries. On one of the batteries in the rear of tray is a wire that is tie wrapped to one of the battery cables and connects to a positive terminal. This is a factory connection. While hooking up, this unknown wire pulled out of the connection that is for the battery post. I have never seen a wire set up like this. This is a fairly small wire and is flat. The part that sticks into the battery terminal connection looks like a wire loop, no ends, with a small piece of wire insulation stripped away. This wire was held in the connection with the shrink wrap which came loose. The wire was not soldered in or crimped in. Just stuck in. I stuck it back in and taped it. After all was hooked up, everything seems to be working ok so far. Does anyone have any idea what this wire might be? Again this wire is a small flat wire almost like a phone cable. I plan on calling Thor about it to see if they can help.
  • It might be a battery temperature sensor for an inverter/charger or solar controller. If so, there's no electrical connection between the battery terminal and the wires going to the sensor (but I'd guess it isn't working properly anymore once the wire got pulled out).
  • did you check it for voltage? if it's on positive side it should have current. Maybe a companion wire on neg terminal or???

Maybe test it for current with/without generator on, solar or even motor running and see if anything shows up?
  • oh, i bought a $20 circuit tracer at Harbor Freight. If you had on conect the sender on the wire then go hunting with the sensor end listening for it to sing.

My first thought as well. Look at your charger to see if you can see the same wire plugged into a port there.
  • It could also be the wire that runs to the interior battery gauge.

Get yourself a crimping tool and a new end and finish the job the factory apparently didn't.
  • It is the Temp Sensor wire for the Inverter/Charger. Since the wire at the Inverter charger connection looks like a standard 4 wire Phone modular connection, I would doubt you can recrimp or fix at the Battery end. The wires must interface with that module. Nothing bad will really happen if it is not connected. It just stops the temp regulated battery charge feature of the Inverter/Charger. Doug
  • our battery temperature connection is a module glued to the side of one battery.
  • Do you have a solar panel on the roof.
I had one that a wire came from it to the battery was a slow charger.
