We found this out last year in the middle of September. We covered, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. We were going to stay in Mountain Home, but Boise was just about 40 miles farther, and decided to go on into Boise, as there was a greater choice of RV parks. We pulled into the first choice to find them full for the next week. Called Meridian KOA to find the same thing. Went to Nampa, our standby park to find it full also. I asked what was up with all the parks being full this time of year. I was told that they have been full since this time last year, and they believed it was because of the Economy. They were full with long term people. They recommended a over 50 RV park, and we got in there for 4 nights, but it was just below the Freeway. Called and made reservations in a Caldwell RV part for the next 8 days, after the 4 day wait. All of these parks had quite a large number of long term residents. Then, there is the other side of things. Having to deal with new city/county regs., difficult people, general updates and up keep. They can sell the land and become Millionaires, and not have the responsibilities anymore, and become like us, just out for enjoyment.
