I am really not sure why anyone would choose a GPS other than what is on a smart phone.
Couple of reasons... first, if the phone rings while in a critical navigation point, you lose your navigation option until the conversation stops or the phone stops ringing. Secondly, and probably most importantly....if you aren't in a good cell coverage area, you may not have access to the base map for your location. The GPS part still works, but most of the phone mapping systems rely on the internet signal to send updated map sections while you are traveling. They don't actually have the maps loaded in the device because it would take up too much memory in such a small but complicated device.
To the OP...I'll add in my preference for the RV760LMT. It's got a big screen, a very-easy-to-hear speaker, and so far has been extremely accurate in my travels. And the LMT means Lifetime Map Updates so you won't have to pay for future map updates....you just hook it up to your computer and get the latest.
