I am really not sure why anyone would choose a GPS other than what is on a smart phone.
LOTS of reasons. First and foremost is size - IPhone is way too small to visually reference while driving the RV, the gps function on an IPhone kills the battery fast - it gets very hot and I can actually watch the battery drain using the gps function, I find the GPS on my iPhone not terribly accurate either especially trying to follow your heading, the functions on a standard gps are far more numerous let alone an RV specific gps and much easier to utilize, data and bandwidth usage is killer, especially if you pay for your data. There are lots more but those are the ones I came up with in about 30 seconds.
It's really hard to beat a large, easy to read and use device specifically suited for the purpose with all the helpful navigational tools and far more intuitive that's not only cheaper but requires no monthly service.
I'll use my iPhone in a pinch but it's very cumbersome at best even with a good signal. I'll stick to my Garmin DEZL.
