Woodsmoke smell in our mh!

Help! Just returned from our first camping trip, as soon as we arrived at the campsite the people behind us had the most awful smelling smokey campfire going and it all came rushing in through our windows. Now the smell wont go away! Ugh!
What do we do? I have the windows all open and the roof fan going, but still stinking!
Any ideas? Almost smells like an old burned down house. :h

How long did you let the smoke in? I did this to my self as a newbie, did not have all the great suggestions here and simply let it air out. Went away fairly quickly.
  • That's why we seldom do state/national parks anymore. We don't camp, we RV. Big difference.

  • Clean/wipe everything... fabreeze....but nothing do better than opening windows air circulation...

If you have carpeting, you can sprinkle baking soda on it and let it sit overnight and then vacuum....
  • try setting a bowl of bleach out overnight. Be careful not to spill it!!! I took out burned meat smell of our house with that method.
  • That's what they make air conditioners for...to close the windows and keep the smoke out!! :p

Have you tried Febreeze? Wash down the walls and anything else that can be washed, with a little bit of Dawn dish detergent and then spray with Febreeze. Put lots of Frebreeze on the upholstered furniture and window treatments. Close it up and if that doesn't work, give it another good squirt with the Febreeze.
