You kind of picked the Chev any way with the ill handling of the short wheelbase. You'll be a lot more relaxed with the longer Chev chassis. I remember some of the older ones having the hump for the front wheel well right where your left foot goes, didn't bother me if I didn't have my leg on but most of the time I did.
I'd try finding one with the six speed tranny, not sure what year they started installing them. It's a real workhorse, being a big block fan I've been impressed with mine. Improvement in the power band and economy.
