Since this is ur first Rv, I think older but good condition is best. Realistically, you don't know what you don't know Rv wise, because you haven't encountered it yet. You may like Rv ing but feel cramped in a van. U may like camping but later decide u want a jeep to see out if way stuff and a trailer, for example. Alternately you may find you want something bigger for more comfort to stay at line site longer. You may find the van layout desire surpasses your chassis preference. It gets sorted with experience .
Fwiw I almost bought a coach house b with a power stroke. Too far away, too tuff to nail down price at a distance. Also, todays gas engines are pretty tuff. The 5.7L is the new version 350 been around forever. Same story for older Fords and Dodges. All reliable stuff. Diesel stuff gets pricey to fix. I used to love it but the new smog junk isn't cheap. For van reliability I looked at expeditor blogs and pick up truck blogs.
Patience will get it done.
