Back in 2005 we were looking for a Class B MH. I had decided on the smaller van. Roadtrek was the only manufacture other than Sportsmobile that made it on the shorter frame. I had a trade-in so Sportsmobile was out. The dealer had a new 2004 170 on the Dodge chassis with the 318 engine. They also had a 2005 170 on the Chevy chassis. I test drove both. Down the road they were both about the same. The Dodge had a shorter turning radius. The big difference I noticed was on a two lane road when a semi truck passed you, the Chevy was all over the road while the Dodge didn't budge. I also liked the fact that you could open both rear doors on the Dodge. On the Chevy you had to drop the spare tire to open the drivers side rear door.
If you are single I would recommend the 170, with two people I felt the sleeping area was too short, I am 6ft. Whatever model you choose make sure it has the built in generator. I looked at another dealer who had a 170 without the gen and it would have cost about $4500 to have one installed. Don't go with a Honda gen they're a pain in the ass to store plus the gas you will need for it. The 170 was a piece of cake to park and with the AC unit built on the back and not on top it could go into almost any underground parking garage. I liked the lower profile Dodge over he taller Chevy.
