motive8, a word of advice about parking in a complex, or neighborhood with a HOA. Don't try and fool them, be upfront with what you have, if they say it's OK to park, get it in writing.
For sure, some nosy neighbor will turn you in, then your stuck with having to move, or store the RV.
It's happened to several members on this forum.
Yeah, that makes sense. It's a bad idea to count on parking my Class B MH there based on fooling them about what it is. I may fool them at the start, but sooner or later someone will figure it out. But... I could combine the disguise technique AND also tell them it's a MH. If I remove the decals, and maybe even paint the lower two-tone part the same as the body color (which will probably be white), and possibly paint or cover with black vinyl the space between the windows, so it looks like tinted windows front to back, it will look less like a motorhome, and more like just a regular full size van, like a work van, 15 passenger airport shuttle van or wheelchair accessible van. If it doesn't really look like a MH, the HOA might be OK with it.
And if I find the perfect condo or townhouse and the HOA is still not OK with the van/MH (even with the understated look), then I'll just have to budget for parking it a storage facility and take it out when I need to use it for a weekend getaway or an extended vacation. I'll park my regular minivan at home. On the flip side, if I "disguise" my motorhome as mentioned above, it should come in handy while travelling if most people don't see it as a motorhome. I can probably get away with parking it where motorhomes typically could not park. This is more for times when I might be travelling and have to stop for the night to get some sleep and don't want to search and pay for a campground but just discretely park within a city or small town.

Motive8,
Also check out the prices at ROADTREK INTERNATIONAL. They have a list of used Roadtrek's for sale. That will also give you a better idea of what the prices are.

Thanks, yes I took a look at Roadtrek International too. I think between that, and eBay and RV Trader, I should be able to find the right MH. I'm guessing that in northern/snowy areas, we're in the off-season for motorhomes right now, and demand (and prices) should remain a bit lower than it the spring and early summer. If I can sell my home quickly and get a fast close on it, I could have the money available before the end of the winter.
