I think this will end up being a $10,000 free motor home.
Yeah ur probably right lol.
Thanks guys for all the advice & yes I have no clue what I'm doing since I have never done an rv before but I do know basics & I'm trying to figure out what I might be missing.
We have ripped out the back bedroom cause my wife wanted the wall paper gone so when we tore it off part of the paneling came off with it. This was on the side walls of the bedroom. We finished pulling the paneling off & the insulation is good & the structure behind it is good. The aluminum & metal structure has a little surface rust but it's good.
We tore back part of the carpeted ceiling & about 6" to 8"s was wet where it was leaking in & seemed to spread all out around the windows on both sides.
We pulled up the carpet & all the flooring is good except a little by the door in the entrance it's a little wet but not bad & the first step was completely rotted but has metal under it.
I know the roof is expensive but I can all the materials for about $550. That's rubber, adhesive glue, tape, & caulk. Not counting wood( not sure what to go with).
So how much is the boards that go inside the rv? What kind of boards should I use if I decide to go forward?
What's boards to use for the roof & how much do they run?
My wife wanted to tear out the carpet & put down new floors & repaint it all as it was.
So....
The wife & I had about 3000 to spend. Originally we were going to give him a 1000 & spend 2000 fixing it up.
Our first budget was
-800 for mor-ryde suspension (would have been 1000 but git under warranty) so that was 0.
-500 for roof repair (way under estimated since it needed replacing. Rv shop said it was about 5500 to do.) So I found material for 550.
-300 for residential fridge.
-200 for flooring
-100 for paint.
That put us at our budget but then the guy said if we could fix it then it's ours plus the suspension so that left us with a good bit of out budget to work with.
Newer tires & brakes. The motor has 40,000 & runs strong, generator, a/c units, stove, oven & all lights work.
Tanks & plumbing are all good.
Sorry for the long post just trying to talk myself into it lol.
Please feel free to add to my list of things I have not thought of or need to check.
Thanks again
