Would you buy a used coach with residential refrigerator?

Just purchased an Allegro Bus with Residential Refrigerator about 2 months ago. My first Residential Ref. I would not go back to the old style. The Res. Ref. keeps the temperature you want regardless of outdoor temp. Does not have to be level to work properly. Our has lots of room to store you food.

I remember how much improvement a DP was over a gas when I purchased my first DP. The change to a Res. Ref. is about as drastic of a change to the better.

I do agree with others, I would be concerned if it was not a factory install.

I paid $1499 for a 19 cf LG stainless steel with French doors, that included taxes and shipping. I paid $600 to have the Norcold taken out and the LG installed. They both fit through the front door. It runs off a MSW inverter and keeps a constant temperature while traveling. Even without running the inverter, it will stay cold for many hours.

Throw about 3500 bucks at it including fridge, sine wave inverter, couple of 160 watt solar panels a couple of extra batteries and install call it done. Or a little less than a whole new Norcold or Dometic. If you already have the inverter obviously a little less. Some of the residentials seem to run fine on the MSW inverters as well. If you don't dry camp then you can nix the cost of the extra batteries and the solar. We dry camp a lot so the extra battery and solar capacity was worth it.

A Samsung residential fridge - yes, but a Norcold residential fridge - no way! In fact, I go with most any residential fridge out there provided it will run on a modified sine wave inverter and I could disable the automatic defroster.

And yes we still boon-dock and we do not have to run the generator overnight. The refrig draws about 5amps average per hour.

With that norcold fridge......I would not touch the rv till they swapped the fridge for newer Dometic,or Housetype. Fridge.......should have your answer by now..

Very easy in my coach, 2 ways, take your pick. Take the doors off the fridge and it will come in through the entry door, or remove the drivers side window and it will easily slide in over the steering wheel.

if you had asked this question several years ago I would've said...no friggin' way. but now, yes, we would consider it. we don't boondock anymore and it is rare for us to overnight at wally or other places. add to that the sage of the norcold 1200 and i'm just tired of dealing with our norcold n8xx series. it works about as well as you can expect but i'm just tired of worrying about it. so yes, we'd consider a residential style fridge next time around.
