Drew, I am pretty sure you are right. A case in point is our 2014 Mazda 6. The 2014 6 was pretty much a "clean sheet" design when the "divorce" from Ford was final and I believe released in March 2013. Our particular car was completed in May 2013 and we purchased it in October. It is titled and insured as a 2014.
Also we recently purchased a 2018 Winnebago Fuse 23A. It was completed in July of 2017 on a 2017 Ford Transit 350HD cutaway built in June 2017. It is titled and insured as a 2018. I just verified the dates before I wrote this post. So snow0700 don't worry about the build dates. You have a 2019; the manufacturer says so.
