Yellowstone

Stay at the Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone. Drive the car through the park and/or take the Yellow Bus Tours.

Some of the campgrounds close in September, so that tells you that things slow down, a little. The one time we stayed in the park, we stayed at Bridge Bay and they closed a good part of the CG, this was in early September. Other times we've stayed outside the park in West Yellowstone at Baker's Hole, a FS CG 2 miles North of West Yellowstone. Another time we stayed near Henry's Lake at Red Rock RV Park but that was too far out for us. And yet other times we stayed at Flagg Ranch and Colter Bay, but both of these made for a long day, but we didn't mind the driving, but that's just us. I say to see the main highlights first time around, then hit the less traveled spots later or another trip. You can always, in the course of your drives, check out other CG's, then move there for a change.

Here's the national park's website and it lists the campgrounds and closing dates. Mammoth is open year-round.

Yellowstone has a major forest fire going through it now

we stayed at fishing bridge and took the toad around the park. I wouldn't uproot myself every couple of days myself.

We went to Yellowstone last September/October and planned to head south to see the Grand Tetons. The smoke from the fires was so bad that we could not see the mountains at all.

Please search this Forum for Yellowstone in RV Parks section for campground information. Do more searching for other questions. It has all been discussed at length in the past.

We usually spend a week or so in Yellowstone in September. We stay at Mammoth which is "first come first served". We have always been able to find a suitable site there but you need to arrive between 9 and 10 AM. There are no hookups but there are water spigots here and there. Park your rig and tour with your toad.
