To me a RV is just an oversized car but a lot easier (to access) and heavier to work on. Having the operators and service manuals for all the systems is my biggest help. If you don't have paper copies, get .pdf files, they are available for 90% of all systems.
If it isn't broke, don't fix it, if it is broke try fixing it yourself, most repairs are just common sense.
