I don't see how the supply would be low as they are made in Oregon! Could be either that they are so popular in Oregon that they are hard to keep in stock OR because they tend to be more expensive that dealers limit their supply because of the price point. Some people rather pay less money upfront for bad quality and then pay more for repairs or a new trailer down the line.

Most dealers lower their inventory this time of the year and build it up over the winter. Pretty unusual that many dealers in the NW will carry a large inventory into fall and winter. I would call a dealer first and see what they have on the ground before you drive to one.

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply back; work, kids, etc.; I know you all understand. I have been looking at the Artic Fox brand a lot this week. Is it just me or is there not a lot of Artic Fox trailers in stock in the state of Oregon right now? Most of the websites I'm visiting state they're Artic Fox dealers but when I sort by brand, they either of limited or no selection. I guess I'll probably have better luck when I get boots on the ground there. I'll keep all posted and I do appreciate the tips.

I am new to travel trailers so I can't give you much advice on your purchase, but I wanted to say thank you for your service.

My wife and I are both active duty Air Force vets (she is now an Air National Guard officer) and I am a big fan of Marines. I worked with some Marines during my four years in the Air Force and they were as professional and as dedicated to service as anyone I ever met.

Nelson's RV has free gift for military with purchase. They have the Nash 25C that mark1228 suggested.

Take a look at the Nash 25C from Northood(Arctic Fox) It can have a built in generator and has good holding tank capacitys. Only will sleep 6 but seems to fit all your other parameters.

for camping without hookups take a trip to a Komfort dealer .
study the weights , payloads , tank capacities , depth of frame , welded aluminum frame structure .
ground clearance , spare mounted under chassis ,headroom , windows, skylights .
built in milwaukie , Oregon so less freight .
Arctic and Nash are built in LaGrande , Oregon and should be considered .
Once you have spent months learning the nuances there are many dealers for these 3 brands in the PNW .
Consider ordering a factory build with all of the options you want and ask 3 dealers to quote that exact spec to you .
You will discover that you will get a considerably better deal that way .
The other option is to buy new-used from a PRIVATE PARTY .
A private party is the only way that you know how the previous owner takes care of his stuff .
Plenty of old guys who have to quit trailering .

I've considered a toy hauler, but what I've looked at here in SoCal in my price range is essentially a garage with a place to sleep. Also, it seems that getting a slide out in a toy hauler is very pricey. May I ask what issues you're having?

You should seriously consider the Artic Fox or any other brand from Northwood Manufacturing. As far as the onboard generator, that will be a rarity in any trailer except the bigger tow haulers and 5th wheels. However, a generator is easy to solve, buy two Hondas and link them together for all the "juice" you will need.

Semper FI Marine. I was in from 2001 - 2005 did a tour in Okinawa. Now I'm back in Montana.

As for trailers, there are a lot to be had for the money your willing to spend. However, I'm not sure of the onboard generator in the typical TT setup. I have one in my toy hauler and I've seen them often on the 5ers but not on the TTs.

I think to sleep 8 you are going to want to get either a bunkhouse with quad bunks or a toyhauler with the dual bunks in the garage area. Those bunks in the TH are nice as they are 90"x60" and large enough for 2 or 3 kids a peice. The TH might be worth a look for you since you will be hauling the ATV anyway. With your DRW you could even get a decent 5ver model. Another benefit is that the toyhaulers are usually ready for a onboard generator (wiring, fuel and exhaust) to be installed if it doesn't have one already in it.

If you don't want to go the TH route I would suggest a TT made by either Northwood (Artic Fox, Nash etc..) or Outdoors RV (Creek Side, Timber Ridge) These brands are typically better in construction and have a custom chassis specifically built for the trailers. They don't use crappy Lippert frames. Also, they offer better insulation for the cold climates up here.
