I've had Verizon cell service for years. The last two smartphones I bought were through Amazon Wireless and had no issues activating with the help of Verizon customer service. Of the few large companies I've dealt with for phone service (Landline or Cell - AT&T, Comcast, Tracfone & Verizon), Verizon is by far the best. Most of the times I've called (which was maybe half a dozen times), I've spoken to someone with excellent customer service that speaks very well.
As far as cell service goes, you definitely get what you pay for.
