- midnightsadieExplorer IIwell I like the MB part, don,t no about the rest of the rv.
- azrvingExplorerSure is two vastly different reputations.
- ScottGNomadWe just traded in our 13 y/o FR Wildcat.
It had very few issues and they were minor. It never leaked and looked great when we let it go.
I thin they are a very good middle of the road type of RV. - Ralph_CramdenExplorer II"Your Opinion on Forest River"?
Being a current and former owner of Forest River products......Caveat Emptor.
I can not comment on the Forester line, but from what I've personally experienced the only thing worse than Forest Rivers shoddy assembly and total lack of quality control is their manufacturers warranty. The entire drawn out process is designed to "run out the clock". - tragusa3ExplorerMy FR is clearly constructed better than the entry level we had prior. I think to get any better quality, the price goes up exponentially. It's the sweet spot in value that I'm willing to pay right now.
- midnightsadieExplorer IIdo a google on forest river reviews might give you some help.

Ooooooow, that hurt....:E
Problem is, it's the truth. If you buy any FR product, expect shoddy workmanship and visits to the dealer to repair it under warranty, which is only a year so you are running against the clock.
If you are handy with tools, repair the shoddy workmannship yourself, you'll be farther ahead. FR products are basically high priced junk. - sorenExplorer

Stop by any shop that repairs the Sprinters and try to find a mechanic that would be willing to buy one for himself. It might take you a while, since the vast majority are going to decline getting involved in that mess. I've got a buddy that works on them, and generally does the complicated work that the other half dozen techs. in the shop can't handle. Wow, does he have interesting stories about some of the legendary German engineering.
The commercial van market is full of stories of high volume users, everybody from Ambulance companies, to big residential service providers, who fell hard for Sprinters and bought whole fleets of them. five years later, the things are out of warranty, and the cost of keeping them on the road, and lack of reliability, result in them being replaced by E chassis and Transit vans, or anything else that won't need continuous expensive repairs and service. - bukhrnExplorer IIIBought a New '07 Forester,I wouldn't buy another one, for one thing, they will NOT sell you parts, you must go through a dealer, so everyone makes money but you.
Have had a number of problems, from burned out converter (in the first year), water pump, 2 slide out drive gears, CD/DVD player in the entertainment center, rear camera, A/C and thermostat control, fortunately all of these were covered under the original or the extended warranty, plus a couple others that weren't. - pnicholsExplorer IIIMHO - stick with Winnebago.
With Winnebago you're not buying "an RV unit" - you're buying "an on-going RV'ing unit" .... because of their extensive parts documentation and availability.
