11 Tricks Restaurants Use To Make You Spend More Money

Going out to eat fits in our budget under the heading, "Entertainment". I expect to pay more for my food and drink but if the food is good and the overall experience was enjoyable, everyone is happy. It's kind of like buying a musicians CD for $15 or going to their concert for $75.

The biggest ripoff is when they try to get you to order your entrée at the same time as the appetizer. How many people are full after a relatively inexpensive appetizer? Yet, the restaurant pushes the server to get you to place your entrée order before you're full and more likely not to order the full dinner.

Amen to that. I can remember when the drink was included at no extra charge almost everywhere. Now some places want $1.99 for a glass of iced tea...ridiculous.
