adding an oven?

As we look toward full timing, the DW wants an oven.
MoHo#1 had one, #2 does not.

Any idea where to look for a pre-owned motorhome oven?
I've heard some remove them because they don't use them.
Would have a 3 burner cooktop to trade.

Any camping store that is close to you can order one for you. As well as any RV dealership.

If you decide on the MH without the oven, try it out first. Many of us end up never using the oven and/or stove in an RV. Grease and cooking smells are very concentrated in an RV. And stain the walls and ceiling irregardless that it has an exhaust fan.

You think you can't live without one but soon find out it is much easier to cook outside on a coleman stove or BBQ. My oven is permanently a storage bin and I do not use the burners on the stove. That has a nice cutting board on top of that for extra counter space! :W

I bought one of these in to fill my need for real cooking in a pot. Small portable and folds flat for storage. And the other one fills both the need to BBQ AND cook.

  • rjf7g, r u ever in the Midwest? Send me a PM.

Dale, Excellent tip, thanks. That area is not far from me.

We have a good convection oven in the Knight, and a similar unit in our pace arrow (which also had a gas oven). The convection oven is just not the same, especially when baking. Even simple things like cinamin rolls in a can, come out "rubbery." I'm glad many find it all they need, but DW wants a real oven.
  • You can have both of mine - I have never used either one of them for anything but storage. I have learned to bake on the grill and am considering upgrading to a convection oven when my microwave dies.
  • Between a convection MW and BBQ she will likely come to appreciate the extra space the oven would take. No oven since 04 and I installed 2 full extension drawers in the space.
  • If you have a standard microwave, you might want to upgrade to a microwave with convection oven.
  • If your MH #2 has a convection oven let the DW give it a try first. We're in our 1st unit to have a convection oven and after the DW got used to it she loves it and would rather have the 3 additional drawers where an oven would go.
  • There are many available at the RV surplus places around the northern Indiana area. Bontrager's on US 12 east of White Pigeon, MI, has a good selection. West of town on 12 is Johnson's which also has several. Tom's Borderline Sales north of White Pigeon on 131N.

Does you unit have a convection oven? That is a regular electric oven with a fan. I thought I had to have a gas oven, too, but I'm glad I didn't insist on it. I love the convection. The only limitation I have found with it is that it would be hard to "dry" foods, but I don't do that anymore anymore and a small dehydrator would do the trick.
